Pareidolia (pronounced /pærɪˈdoʊliə/) is a psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant. Common examples include seeing images of animals or faces in clouds, the man in the moon, and hearing hidden messages on records played in reverse. The word comes from the Greek para- ("beside", "with", or "alongside"—meaning, in this context, something faulty or wrong (as in paraphasia, disordered speech)) and eidolon ("image"; the diminutive of eidos ("image", "form", "shape")).

Not Done With It, Yet

Sand Spit

Surfed Sandspit, today. The swell was cranking everywhere else, but I thought that it might be a fun change of pace- especially for KB- to surf some small, clean peelers.

The tide was still fairly high when we got there, on its way to a minus.3 foot low. As it dropped it got fairly dredgey, and there was a pod of groms out on the backwash peak, both stand-up and bodyboarders. I loved surfing there when I was a kid, and even now, 35 years older than everyone else out, managing to squeak into a couple of set waves, chest-to-maybe-shoulder-high, its still just as fun as ever.

From a photo of Malcolm Campbell, taken on his last day at CI. Printed on laminate paper and "glassed" with Liquin to canvas. I ended up over-working it, and should've left it in this state. It has a suitably raw energy to it. Oh well. At least I took a progress shot.
