Envelope

I love the way that thunderhead (just upper left of center) flattens out at the top, presumably against some sort of atmospheric ceiling.

Overall, the Earth's atmosphere is about 300 miles thick, with the densest, most life-sustaining layer extending only about ten miles from the surface (or just a little over a thousandth of diameter of the planet).

A relatively thin envelope.
